Sweater Upcycle Series {Part 1} - Coffee Cup Sweater

Welcome to {Part 1} of the Sweater Upcycle Series. Today I'm going to show you the easiest tutorial ever, and the results are squeal-worthy cute!

To get started you need an old sweater. Mine worked well because it had big cuffs on the sleeves, but just work with what you have.

For this project, we will be focusing on the cuffed sleeves. Cut the entire cuff off leaving about 1/2"-1" of sweater above where the cuff starts.

1. Turn the cuff piece inside out. 2. Heat up a hot glue gun. 3. Fold the excess sweater material over to form a hemmed edge. 4. Glue in small sections until secure.

Turn your cuff right side out again. Add any embellishments you want. I picked a leaf pattern button with a bronze finish. I used hot glue to secure it in place. When adding your embellishments, just be mindful of the way the sweater will stretch and pull when you put it on your cup.

Mine goes perfectly with my coffee thermos. It also works well over disposable coffee cups. Just slip it on your cup while you're out and about this Fall/Winter. Your hands will thank you!

Every old sweater is different. What will you make out of yours?
