How To Save On Your Cable Bill

Today an exciting event is taking place - we are getting cable! For the first time ever! Since we subscribe to Netflix and can rent a movie from RedBox for only a dollar, we could never rationalize paying a huge bill for a service we didn't really need. Then, our local cable and internet service provider, Optimum, called us the other day to offer their triple play services to us. We both use cell phones and have no desire for a landline, so we declined their offer - AGAIN!

Here's the trick to how we got a great deal on the internet and cable only package - we told them that we would love to get cable along with our internet, but we will NEVER be interested in having a landline. That's when they said "We have been getting that response a lot lately, so we've decided to create a new package for customers who only want cable and internet." So, we are getting cable and a DVR for only $30 more a month than we were paying for internet.

The secret to getting a good deal on any cable or internet service is to call and ask them to work with you. They don't advertise some of the deals and packages they are willing to provide. When Optimum took over from Bresnan, their base internet speed increased, but we didn't get our speed changed until we called them. Now our internet is twice as fast and we pay $10 less a month! The key is to do a little work yourself to get the results you want. If you're unhappy with your plan, or you've been wanting to add a service, you should call your provider today. Sometimes it just takes a little initiative.

P.S. I'm not being paid to say any of this. I'm just trying to share some good fortune!
